Ikhaya Lempilo Natural Chemist

Running the family business is a long-term goal for Sivuyile Jakalase owner of Ikhaya Lempilo Chemist and son to the owner of House of Health Chemist. It is because of this goal that this IT, University drop-out decided to quit school and work alongside his father at House of Health. He learnt all he could until a need to open his own business aroused in 2016 leading to the birth of Ikhaya Lempilo Natural Chemist.

When Ikhaya Lempilo was established two years ago it was meant to help the owner (Jakalase) gain more experience on the daily running of such a business. “Having my own business is a learning curve for me as I get to know more about the financial and productive side of business while continuing with my father’s long life research and taking it to another level” said Jakalase.

Ikhaya Lempilo has two branches one in Mdantsane and the other in Butterworth with one employee in each branch. Promoting and teaching a healthy lifestyle has now become the main focus of this company as they sell medical herbs to the community “ the challenge we face is the lack of awareness that people have and the myth that herbal treatment is classified as ungodly and looked down on” explained Jakalase . Although Ikhaya Lempilo is selling herbal treatment and doing all they can to change people’s negative perspective on this treatment they still think there is a lot to be done and that is a huge challenge because this makes their main target market to be rural people (adults) when everyone is in need of such treatment. “We target traditional people that understand their tradition and the concept of herbs being an alternative treatment and not excluding those who are willing to use it “said Jakalase.

The unique methods the company uses to create these herbal mixtures makes their products effective in eliminating and curing illnesses is what Jakalase believes sets them apart from competitors “ We manufacture and conduct proper research on our own herbal treatment products” concluded Jakalase He is currently studying Naturopathic( the treatment of herbal medicine) at the Natural Health Academy in Durban. This is a move that will help Ikhaya Lempilo achieve its aim of creating a common bond between people and traditional medicine whilst eliminating unnecessary death in South Africa and possibly the world.
